The Role:
As a Principal Character Technical Artist, you will play a pivotal role in elevating the visual appeal of characters within our games. Working in close collaboration with character artists, graphics engineers, and a talented team of Technical Artists, you will be responsible for the development of efficient tools and rendering effects to bring characters to life.
Job Responsibilities:
- Focus on refining rendering effects in character pipelines and the creation of efficient tools.
- Collaborate closely with character artists and graphics engineers to design and implement benchmark character processes and streamlined workflows.
- Develop shader and lighting effects for character elements like skins, hair, equipment, and weapons.
- Work with other Technical Artists to design and implement dynamic expressions for character elements such as hair, clothing, pendants, etc., as well as other special effects for character performances.
- Partner with the 3D team to craft best practice workflow documents and organize training sessions.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and processes, conducting research and development to integrate cutting-edge techniques into projects.
- Extensive technical art experience with a comprehensive understanding of art, including a track record of shipping AAA titles.
- Proficiency in coding languages such as HLSL, Python, MaxScript, Blueprint Materials, and familiarity with VFX workflows like Niagara and Houdini.
- In-depth knowledge of UE engine functionalities, coupled with a profound understanding of PBR rendering and artistic workflows, encompassing 3DMax, Maya, Substance, etc.
- A passion for games, along with familiarity with Japanese and Korean stylized animation, comics, and games.
