The Role
This position is ideal for a seasoned IT Support Technician who thrives in complex technical environments. As the highest point of technical escalation, the successful candidate will play a critical role in resolving sophisticated infrastructure issues, scoping advanced IT projects, and contributing to architectural decisions. This role offers the opportunity to lead initiatives, mentor junior staff, and work closely with senior leadership on strategic IT planning. The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, requiring a blend of technical expertise, communication skills, and professional integrity.
Responsibilities
- Act as the senior escalation point for critical, complex IT support issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced problems across enterprise systems and networks
- Provide expert-level support for virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware)
- Manage and support cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, hybrid environments)
- Assist with project scoping, solution design, and system architecture planning
- Lead disaster recovery and business continuity efforts
- Conduct performance tuning and system optimization
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation and knowledge base articles
- Mentor more junior technicians and lead post-incident reviews
- Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule for emergencies
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of enterprise IT support experience, with 3+ years at a specialist level
- Deep knowledge of virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware, Citrix)
- Advanced expertise in Azure, AWS, and hybrid cloud solutions
- Strong command of Windows Server environments and Active Directory
- Solid networking skills (VPN, routing, switching, firewalls)
- Experience with SAN/NAS storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
- Proficiency in PowerShell (Python or other scripting languages an asset)
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills
Bonus Assets
- Microsoft, VMware, or Cisco certifications
- Familiarity with ITIL and enterprise security frameworks
- Experience with system monitoring and automation tools
