Samsung’s Advertising Sales Team operates at the intersection of display advertising and connected televisions offering advertising solutions with the goal of helping our advertisers reach their target audiences across our TV platform and beyond. Position Description:
We are currently looking for a talented account director focused on growing revenue for our owned-and- operated inventory including our OTT service, Samsung TV Plus. The individual must be a motivated self-starter responsible for building and growing relationships with advertisers, agencies, and agency trading desks across the country. The right person is equally comfortable partnering with existing customers on an opportunity and driving revenue from new prospects.
The individual should have a deep understanding of the ins and outs of media agencies, their operating models, and their organizational structures. This includes but is not limited to planning/strategy, investment, programmatic, advanced TV, analytics, as well as agency-owned platforms and data solutions.
The individual should have a passion for video, advanced TV, and the rapidly changing way consumers are viewing premium content across all screens. It’s key to have a pulse on how the media agency community is thinking about and allocating client spend to these channels. Key agency stakeholders sit across multiple teams including TV/screens teams, media planners as well as digital and programmatic specialists. This passion and knowledge will fuel the growth of both your and Samsung Ads’ business.
The ideal candidate will have strong existing agency relationships that extend across a range of roles including key senior level contacts. This executive must be able to think strategically, anticipate how buying decisions are made, uncover the business needs of key clients, and have a proven ability to negotiate partnerships to drive spend. Additionally, they will be a team-player and have the ability to work collaboratively across the sales organization within a fluid and fast paced environment. This position will carry quarterly revenue goals.

Responsibilities:
As an Account Director, you will be responsible for identifying, establishing, and managing relationships across a book of business with agencies and their trading departments across Australia and New Zealand, in order to ensure CTV (Connected TV) as well as digital budgets are invested on Samsung’s suite of advertising solutions.
You will drive deals and forecasting, identify actual business opportunities, and provide leadership to other sales executives and solutions managers.
- Initiate structure and negotiate partnerships with agencies on an account level
- Create and execute business growth strategies, account plans, and business processes for agency partners
- Develop a deep understanding of the Samsung Ads platform, capabilities, and unique inventory (including Samsung TV Plus)
- Create a plan to build and grow Samsung Ads’ business across named agencies and accounts
- Build, prioritise, manage and communicate an active pipeline of partners.
- Continuously provide value to your customers and serve as a trusted consultant to drive advertising growth with Samsung Ads
- Build and facilitate deals to meet campaign objectives in an efficient manner.
- Identify opportunities to grow client spend through data analysis, research, optimisation, coordinating with internal teams.
- Monitor run rates across assigned accounts and work with product and support teams to troubleshoot any issues
- Act as an internal champion for your advertising customers across Samsung
Background & Experience Required:
- 10+ years of industry or relatable experience with a significant portion spent working at an agency, trading desk, or digital sales
- Experience in developing breakthrough plans to achieve new business
- Understanding of the programmatic advertising ecosystem – particularly in connected TV video
- Proven track record of securing and growing spend from advertisers and agencies
- Successful internal and external relationship management
- The ability to lead, conclude and execute complex negotiations
- Independent, self-starter; comfortable with ambiguity, and resilient. Thrives in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide comprehensive advertising solutions to prospective clients.
- Experience working in both entrepreneurial and established corporate cultures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and good follow-through
- Talent at explaining complex topics in simple terms in person or over the phone
- Bachelor's Degree; MBA or other advanced degree a plus
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with selling or using advertising platforms (e.g. Adobe, Amazon, Google, The Trade Desk, or Yahoo DSP)
- Agency or agency trading desk experience overseeing, implementing, and using advertising technology across a large number of brand accounts
- A strong network and existing relationships across buying and trading teams across multiple agencies
