The Role:
They are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Toronto-based team in a full-time, on-site capacity. This role is critical in designing, developing, and integrating mechanical components for their smart home devices. Responsibilities include working on advanced mechanical systems such as actuator systems, cooling solutions, and housing designs for consumer technology. The position demands exceptional expertise in kinematics, thermal management, and manufacturing processes. You’ll collaborate closely with electrical and software engineers to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.
Requirements:
- Mechanical Design Engineering: Advanced skills in designing mechanical systems using CAD software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Manufacturing Engineering: Hands-on experience in overseeing the end-to-end manufacturing process, optimizing designs for production.
- Kinematics: Strong knowledge of motion and force systems in mechanical structures.
- Prototyping and Testing: Proficiency in rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and performing mechanical tests to ensure durability and performance.
- Education: PhD in Mechanical Design Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. Additional certifications are a bonus.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with robotics, including actuator integration and control systems.
- Familiarity with environmental sensing technologies (e.g., temperature, humidity sensors).
- Understanding of HVAC principles for home automation systems.
- Basic knowledge of programming languages like Python or C/C++ for simulations or scripting tasks.
- Thermal Management: Expertise in designing cooling systems and managing thermal loads for electronic and mechanical components.
Responsibilities
